Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and is the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a member and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was appointed by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. In 2010 she was elected Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and campaigned for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
